Faculty Practice: Development of an NP clinic

The College of Nursing developed a NP led, faculty practice which serves an urban community.  Our patients are predominately underserved, uninsured with little access to healthcare services.  They have responded enthusiastically to NP care.  With a three million dollar grant from HRSA, this practice has evolved into an inter-professional practice with pharmacy faculty and students, social work faculty, staff and students, violence prevention and NP faculty, staff and students.  Patient satisfaction with the care team is high and the team approach has improved adherence to treatment plans and outcomes.  Students, staff and faculty work in a collaborative, team-based model that improves patient outcomes and quality of care.
