Abstract:
Faculty from the University AGACNP Program partnered with the Medical Residency Director and Chief Medical Residents at Hospital of the University to create a unique interprofessional clinical training experience in 2013. The training involved 3 NP students who joined the residents during two 2 week blocks on the inpatient medicine team. The goal of this experience was to help the learners to appreciate the differences in each others’ preparation and training and to learn from each other while collaborating as a team. Pre and post IPE surveys and reflective logs were completed by the participants. Due to the success of this pilot, it will be expanded to include more participants in 2014. This presentation will include a review of the logistics of setting up this experience, challenges, and successes of this unique IPE clinical training experience.
