Abstract:
Many nurse practitioners  are placed in the position of a program director with little to no training in the complexity of this role. This workshop is designed for nurse practitioner faculty who were recently, or are about to be placed in the role of a program director. Various aspects of what a NP should know including accreditation requirements, advising, curriculum development issues and strategizing to manage student petitions and student-faculty conflicts.  Participants will develop an awareness of the complex nature of being a nurse practitioner program director. They will gain insight into specific aspects of the role and their responsibilities to their faculty, students and to themselves, and strategies for managing difficult faculty student issues.
