Abstract:
Implementation of the DNP requires faculty to visualize the potential DNP projects within a range of possibilities across a variety of programs. This poster will present 3 examples. The first is  a research evaluation and implementation project utilizing a emergency department observation unit for treatment of heart failure patients inclusive of a decision algorithm, implementation process and evaluation of the results of implementation.  The second is a evaluation of patients presenting to a emergency department for evaluation with the clinical question of the importance of blood pressure measurements on presentation. Emergency treatment does not typically include evaluation of blood pressures which are not at a level to cause immediate tertiary organ disruption. In this unique study, patients are identified with abnormal blood pressures, and a discussion of the evaluation of need to treat.  The final project is the most diverse, in presenting the role of storytelling in native Indian populations and its role in pain management.

This presentation would be well suited to a poster, as an example of the level of scholarly work, approach to DNP projects, evidence of the support of needs for statistical support for these projects, and the potential for tremendous academic work.
