Preconference 1: Pharmacology Update

Summary:Margaret Fitzgerald, DNP, FNP-BC, NP-C, FAANP, CSP, FAAN, DCC, President and principal lecturer for Fitzgerald Health Education Associates, is offering her annual update to provide nurse practitioner educators on a wide variety of advances in drug therapies as well as recently warnings about drug therapies. Topics will include: • Newly released medications, including reformulation of existing medications; • New molecular entities, including therapeutic efficacy and cost considerations and uses compared to established products; • Advisories from the FDA about safety issues and patterns of inappropriate prescribing for established products; and • Newly released treatment guidelines for a commonly encountered clinical condition.
