Abstract:
This presentation will describe an Inter-professional and Academic/Community Partnership Model for delivering health care services to an underserved population.  For more than 8 years the APRN faculty and students from the College of Nursing(CON) have led interdisciplinary health teams in providing comprehensive health assessment programs and interventions for predominantly Hispanic farm workers at a work-site health fair. Five years ago the project expanded to provide an inter-disciplinary “Women’s Clinic”, held over the course of two days, later in the year at the CON’s clinic.  At the women’s clinic, female clients are offered breast and pelvic examinations in addition to general health screening and assessments. Joining the College of Nursing in these events are faculty and students from  the Culturally Linguistics Department, Dental Hygiene, the Physician Assistant Program, as well as the Ryan White & Hispanic Outreach Programs. This presentation will describe the engagement of students from planning of the events through the dissemination of results. Additionally, the presentation will describe health and health service outcomes provided to this underserved and predominantly uninsured population.
