Abstract:

DNP Program Evaluation

Since the AACN endorsed the position statement on the Practice Doctorate in Nursing in 2004, DNP programs have been proliferating. Many of the early DNP programs were created prior to the publication of The Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice. While innovation is an important aspect of nursing education, so too is accreditation.  DNP programs that have been in place for the past few years are now facing visits from the various accrediting bodies. This presentation will describe a program evaluation process used to review a three year old DNP program for the purposes of review and revision as well as accreditation.
