Highway to the Future: Driving Nurse Practitioner Education
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS - Deadline October 15, 2010
NONPF is soliciting abstracts in consideration for presentation at
the 37th Annual Meeting, Highway to the Future: Driving Nurse Practitioner Education. We welcome the submission of abstracts for any
of the types of presentations listed below. Abstracts undergo
blind, peer review in the fall, and author notification of acceptance
is completed by December 15, 2010.
TYPES OF PRESENTATIONS
Podium or Poster Submission:
A 20-minute podium (oral) presentation scheduled during a concurrent session or a poster (traditional or electronic) presentation.
Symposium Submission:
A symposium includes 1 overview abstract with 3-5 additional abstracts all on a related subject and scheduled as an entire concurrent session (75-minutes). A minimum of three presentations are required. The program will include a limited number of symposia.
Workshop Submission:
A "how to" presentation that is scheduled as an entire concurrent session (75-minutes). A minimum of three presenters is required. The program will include a limited number of workshops.
Armchair Discussion Submission:
An interactive session in which a panel of 3 speakers with particular experience on a topic, including an identified moderator, will each give brief comments and then lead an audience discussion on the topic. This will be an entire concurrent session (75-minutes), and a minimum of three presenters is required. The abstract should name the topic, identify key questions to address in the discussion, and describe the collective panel expertise.
Abstract Submission:
Submissions include an abstract (350-word limit), objective, and content outline describing the proposed presentation material.

NONPF suggests the following as topics for abstract submissions:
- Accreditation issues / preparing for site visits
- Classroom management for APRN students – including student civility
Clinical Scholarship
- Collaboration
- Competency integration in curriculum / competency evaluation
- Curriculum – adult-gerontological, other population foci
- DNP issues
- Economic / Budgeting issues for education
- Faculty Development
- Independent Practice
- Innovation
- Integrated teams
- Interprofessional education
- Leadership
- Policy
- Program Evaluation
- Quality & Safety
- Scholarship of Teaching
- Technology
Review criteria for Abstracts:
All podium, poster, workshop, symposium, and armchair discussion
submissions will undergo blind, peer review using the following
evaluation criteria in consideration for acceptance:
- Relevance of content for NP/APRN faculty
- Quality of abstract(s)
- Originality/innovation
- Feasibility of replication or implementation by other NP/APRN faculty
- Overall merit (currency of topic, clarity, etc)
MENTORING OPPORTUNITY
The NONPF Faculty Development Committee is offering a mentoring
service to members who have not yet presented at the annual
conference. This service will feature mentoring by a seasoned NP
faculty member on drafting an abstract and/or preparing for
presentation. Anyone interested in this opportunity should send an
email Anne Thomas or NONPF with "Mentor Request" in the subject line. Requests must be received by September 1, 2010.
